Vehicle Recall Check (Official NHTSA Data)
Safety recalls are announced throughout a vehicle's life — often years after the sale. Check any make, model and year for open recalls, then follow up on the official NHTSA website. Recalls are repaired free of charge at authorized dealers.
Check your vehicle for recalls
Pick your vehicle and get the latest official NHTSA recall record — including safety campaign numbers and the component affected. Recalls are added over a vehicle's life, so even a used car you just bought should be re-checked.

How recall checks work & why they matter
- What a recall is: a safety defect that the manufacturer must fix free of charge, regardless of the vehicle's age or mileage, once NHTSA or the manufacturer opens a campaign.
- Why re-check used cars: a car bought used may have uncompleted recall work. Enter its make/model/year to see if any campaign is still open.
- What to do if there is a recall: contact an authorized dealer with your VIN to schedule the free repair; the campaign number (e.g. 20V682000) is what the dealer references.
- Data source: results are fetched from the official NHTSA recalls database; if your browser blocks the live lookup, the official NHTSA link runs the same search on nhtsa.gov.
